Sonalisa Mishra Production Hosts Bollywood Fusion Night with Let’s Create Events

Brisbane, August 26, 2023 – A vibrant celebration of culture, music and community spirit came alive at Arcana Brisbane, as Sonalisa Mishra Production joined hands with Let’s Create Events (founded by Jess Kumar) to host the city’s first-ever Bollywood Fusion Night. This spectacular event was not only a feast of entertainment but also a heartfelt fundraiser for the Cherish Women Cancer Foundation, which focuses on gynaecological cancer research and clinical trials.

The evening featured special guest Sonia Daniels from the Foundation, who shared meaningful insights into the impact of gynaecological cancers and the urgent need for kinder treatments. With the collective efforts of the organizers and the community, the event successfully raised $3,000 for the cause and set a powerful precedent for future support.

The night sparkled with a diverse lineup of performances. Under the musical direction of Steve Shankar, who also played multiple instruments alongside Hari Vijayaraghavan, Manjay Aryal, and Hemant Bua, Mokhyada, the audience was treated to an evening rich in rhythm and emotion. Special performances by Kim Hanson, Mokshya Academy, Tapori Squad, Australian Indian Theatre, and Sajita More added to the charm.

Charismatic MCs Anu Sharma and Zain Chams kept the energy high, while guest speaker Usha Chandra, a long-time community advocate, emphasized the importance of supporting such causes and empowering women. Her message resonated with the theme of the evening — using art and music as vehicles for change.

The colourful celebration was captured beautifully in a series of photos showcasing Brisbane’s multicultural talent, from dazzling stage performances to behind-the-scenes camaraderie.

Anthony Shorten, a community advocate and guest, praised the initiative as “the kind of event we need more of in this diverse and vibrant city.” He also encouraged wider community involvement to support future initiatives.

Special thanks were extended to sponsors including Mosran Pty Ltd, Finance Point, Battery House, Nexus Immigration, Cargo Launch & Logistics, Max & Co Lawyers, Sankalp Aspley, Copy Cat – Printing and Signage, Shefali & Sanjay Gosalia, Srikant, Sameer Vora, and media partners Australian Indian Radio and Brisbane Indian Times.

The organizers gave a special mention to raffle donors, PDI Photography, and Sid Art Studio, whose contributions helped elevate the event.

With eyes already on their next event, Jess and Sonalisa are planning another memorable showcase in December, continuing their mission to combine creativity with purpose.
